Party Favor: Striped Cookies

For Sunday’s party I wanted to give a small thank you to folks for coming. Given that our theme was largely pink and purple, when I saw these rainbow cookies from Good Life Eats (that I highlighted in an earlier Friday Finds post) I thought they would be a good cookie to try.

And here’s the process: (Clicking above on the recipe link will get you the step by step instructions as well as the sugar cookie recipe.)

These are pretty labor intensive and involve lots of time waiting for the dough to harden. It was a little tricky for me to tell when the cookies were fully cooked because they don’t brown like traditional sugar cookies. Also, if you feel uneasy about food dyes then this isn’t the recipe for you — I’m going to investigate them further because there seems to be a lot of controversy about them. I imagine that you could make different colors using something more natural than coloring gels.
