Sewing Our Own Party Decorations

We are just days away from celebrating a birthday! It’s been a splendid past couple of months learning what our almost three year old would like at her parties — we’ve kept a fun (2 page) list on the refrigerator which included blackberries, strawberries, shoes, and marshmallows. And there must be lots of purple and pink too!

We’re going to have two celebrations to mark another year so I wanted to make some decorations that would hold up and perhaps be used for other celebrations too.

Here’s what I’ve got so far:

I’m using old (or is vintage the word?!) sheets for the pennants and I made a “master” pennant design from a piece of firm cardboard.  So I’m just taping the cardboard to the sheet and cutting the pennants out.

The picture isn’t as clear as I’d like it to be — so I’ll just tell you we’ll have three different pennant designs on the banner a dark purple, light purple, and white with purple flowers.

I’m following this short, but really informative post “Easy Bunting/Pennant Tutorial” from Diary of Quilter. I’ll be sure to post “after” photos!
