Sweet Super Bowl Treat: Cheeseburger Cupcakes

Sports is a BIG deal in our family. (Mostly we’re partial to Chicago sports teams, so we’re hoping that the Bears do well in the play offs this year.)

I made these Cheeseburger Cupcakes based on an awesome tutorial from Cutoutandkeep.net which appears to have a lot of other really great tutorials.

Here is a picture of the cupcakes I made:

The absolute key is lightly brushing the orange juice on the top bun and sprinkling the sesame seeds on top. For the “ketchup”, “cheese”, and “lettuce” I took a major short cut and just used white store bought icing, separated it into three bowls, and used the appropriate food coloring to get the colors I wanted. Then I put each icing in a zip top bag, cut a small tip off the bottom edge of the bag  and squeezed the icing on!

Here’s a close up of one of the cupcakes (sorry I already wrapped it up before remembering to take a pic!)

Another tip — go heavy on the icings. When you put the “bun” top on it really is better if the icing goes over the side of the “hamburger” slightly.

I think these would be fun additions to a kid’s birthday party, a summer cook out, or even as a gift for hamburger lover!

Happy Super Bowl viewing! Go Bears!
